After 38 action-packed match-weeks, the Premier League season is finally over. And what a season it was, especially for champions Manchester City who went on a record-breaking spree. With the league now done and dusted, all eyes will be on the Champions League final and the World Cup. Now, however, is also the time to recognize the standout performances of the season, as we at Sportswizz form our own Premier League Team of the Season.
First up, the PFA also released its own Team of the Season. It is depicted here:

While you can’t say that none of the PFA’s selections did not deserve a berth, we were irked by the decision to not include a true defensive midfielder. Along with that, playing Sergio Aguero on the wing also seemed out of place to us.
Hence, we decided to form our team on a more position-by-position basis. We have used the same formation as used by the PFA, a 4-3-3.
Yes, Manchester City dominates the team. That should not be a surprise because Pep Guardiola’s side was like a Tyrannosaurus with each and every other team being easy prey. Mohamed Salah is also an obvious selection. Such an outstanding individual season cannot be counted out. Especially when you break the record of most goals scored in a single 38-game Premier League season.
