It’s a wrap-up. The Premier League 2017-18 season has finally come to an end. The last Matchweek of this season saw a total of 31 goals being scored over the course of 10 matches. The other two teams of the relegation zone were also decided in this week games. West Bromwich and Swansea City are the other two teams which will play in the Championship next season along with Stoke City. In the race for the final spot in the Champions League next season, Liverpool joined Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. While Chelsea failed to qualify and will join Arsenal and Burnley for the Europa League next season.
After a sensational performance throughout the season, Manchester City was crowned champions of this year’s Premier League. The Citizens created many new records this season, but the most historic record was set up in this Matchweek. After defeating Southampton 1-0, City became the first Premier League side to score 100 points in a single PL campaign. And the fourth overall team in the European football to achieve this mark.
The most prevailing moment of the Matchweek 38 came from the Old Trafford. Where Michael Carrick finally bid a goodbye to Manchester United fans after spending 12 years at the club. Carrick made a total of 316 appearances for United and was the last player from a 2008-09 team in the current Red Devils’ roster. The Englishman’s exceptional performance against Watford also won him the Man of the Match award in his last game at Old Trafford.
The last Matchweek of the season also marked the last game of Arsene Wenger. The Arsenal manager left the club after spending 22 years at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners bid their manager a great farewell after winning his final game 1-0 against Huddersfield. It will be interesting to see who will continue the legacy of Wenger in the next season.
Newcastle United was the most represented team in the last Matchweek of the season. The Magpies defeated Chelsea 3-0 in the pivotal game that decided that Chelsea will play alongside Arsenal and Burnley in the Europa League next season. In addition, Liverpool trounced Brighton 4-0 to grab the final spot for the Champions League next season. Moreover, the nine-goal thriller between Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City also grabbed the headlines in the last Matchweek of the season.
Here, we are with the last Matchweek team of the Premier League this season. We’ve formed our team with a 4-3-3 formation. The formation will have one right defensive midfielder, one left defensive midfielder along with one attacking midfielder. There are three strikers in the team, one in the center position with men on either flank.
